Our client, a fast growing and hugely successful Food Ingredient company is seeking a top caliber Food Technologist/Senior Food Technologist as an addition to its busy new state-of-the-art laboratory.
Primary Purpose:
To apply the scientific and technical knowledge of ingredients, flavors and processes in the development of food product systems. Assist with customer presentations and solving our customer’s technical problems.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
1. Formulate seasonings and food products, new or existing for customers based upon project specifications.
2. Solve technical problems essential to flavor development, food applications or delivery systems.
3. Develop knowledge of company's seasonings and processes. Evaluate and make recommendations for seasonings to sales team based on customer’s requirements.
4. Identify new and replacement raw materials for lab utilization.
5. Develop concepts and applications based on market trends to apply to meat, savory and seasoning products.
6. Replicate products, seasonings and flavors which already exist in the marketplace.
7. Establish stability of seasonings in different applications including setting up a storage study system for evaluation of our different application systems.
8. Possesses advanced knowledge of our customer products and processes and apply this knowledge to the development of culinary ideas.
9. Maintain ongoing communications with customers, sales people and co-workers on projects.
10. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adequate supplies.
11. Conduct sensory evaluations of seasonings and food products.
12. Meet project requirements within specified due dates.
13. Maintains accurate and organized project records.
14. May execute projects or perform other duties as required by the Division.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Food Technology or a related Applied Science.
Minimum of 3 years experience in the Spice & Seasoning Industry with an emphasis on meat and savory development. Culinary experience is a plus.
Creative Ability
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to taste and smell flavors profiles and food products. Must be able to stand for
long periods of time in a laboratory setting. Must be able to mix and compound flavors.
Working Environment:
Laboratory environment with exposure to a variety of chemicals, flavors and food products.
